This link will take you to a google search of hotels in the Sandy Springs/Dunwoody area. The closest is the Comfort Inn on Roswell Rd but most of the hotels on Hammond Drive (and there are quite a few) will put you within minutes of the studio.
Actually these questions were asked by a inquirer in TN. However, as a part time college instructor, I know that for every one person who asks a question there are at least 10 who are afraid to ask.
What is the difference between "Open" and "Closed" Events?
Closed events are restricted to a list of dance step patterns. For the American Style syllabus these patterns are based Arthur Murray and Fred Astaire studio syllabi. There are differences between the syllabi between these two studios. For the International style the patterns are published by the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance). Beginners should consult a certified dance teacher. In the United States these patterns are divided into Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.
In Open events, the dance step patterns are not restricted. Beginners typically enter bronze level events. Advanced students would enter gold level events.
What is the difference between "Newcomer" and "Bronze"?A newcomer is someone who has never competed in a dance competition. Newcomers are restricted to the Bronze syllabus.
If this is an individual's first competition, but they know most of their Bronze, which level do they enter? They enter into newcomer division.
If their are two students competing as amateurs, can one be a JR and the other a Y? Which category would they have to compete in?
Yes and they would enter in Youth category
Will you know the schedule prior to 9:00am on Saturday?
There will be a printed schedule on the day of the competition. The schedule will also be posted on the Web a couple of days before that day.
Are spectators allowed and what is their fee?
Spectator fees are $5.
